The department is engaged in several curricular reforms: active learning in introductory and upper-level courses, studio physics, computation in upper-level courses, and ISLE-based techniques in lower-level labs. It also has active collaborations with the College of Education and Human Services to implement research-based curricular changes. The Department strives to seek support for new initiatives to bolster pedagogical effectiveness in the classroom through funding from external sponsors. The standard teaching load for non-tenure-earning faculty is four courses in Fall, four courses in Spring, and one course in Summer.
